It’s not often I feature a soul singer on MPAD but this video is from a spontaneous interview I did with Pato Margetic last month at the Berkley Front. Pato Margetic was playing before Mayaeni, a local blues-rock artist that is really starting to get some national attention. Pato came across as a genuine, hardworking artist that is trying to establish his name in our local area, before playing his set he went person-to-person and introduced himself to everyone in attendance. His set was a mixture of modern soul and rock. Lazy comparisons might include John Mayer and Dave Matthews but personally I find Pato more soulful than either of those artists. I interviewed Pato at the end of the night is a darkened staircase above the Berkeley Front kitchen area. Pato speaks about how he came to music, describes his music and even sings a few bars for me. You can get his new album the Pato Collection from his websiteand if you’re in the local Detroit area be sure to catch his live show at the Hamilton Room every month.
