A couple of months ago I met royalty, or, The Royalty is more accurate. The Royalty is a soulful indie rock band from a small area of southern Texas. The band is fronted by singer Nicole Bourdreau who can belt our a song much louder than you would think her small frame could support. You can read an interview I did with Nicole on motorcityblog. I saw them in September at Vernors Room with an intimate crowd. It was probably one of their "not so good" memories of the tour because microphones weren't working, the crowd was too small and they arrived late. Nonetheless, I still think they pulled off a great show, and were a really sweet bunch to hang around and talk with after the show. The video is from a few clips we recorded as they were packing up their equipment. "Lovers" is the debut album from The Royalty on Victory Records, and if you like what you hear, you should snap it up.
