Here is the audio edition of my best moments of 2012 which includes a segment on my favorite TV shows of 2012. I also play "Satellite" by the band Fur and a cover of "Would" by Telephoned. There's a lso a clip from Christopher George of the Smiths United. 2012 was a tremendous year for me and I'm really looking forward to what 2013 has coming my way.

I decided to do something a bit different this time around with my show and put together both an audio and video podcast for my final episode of the year. Each version has something different to offer: the audio has the songs in their complete length and I have a part three where I cover my favorite TV in 2012; the video has pictures and video of what I'm talking about and more "hidden" details. I'm thinking about doing this routinely next year but I didn't realize how much more work it would be. But, for an end of year special I should be giving you something more so here you go.

For my year-end this show highlights my record of the year with Fur's "Image on the Reverse," and my favorite band to see liveThe Smiths United.I also talk about some special people I interviewed this year.

Last month I Fight Dragons came back to my town for a ginormous show called the Blizzard with local and national bands playing as well as 8-bit musicians and gaming competitions. Besides seeing a terrific show I did a couple interviews including this one with MC Lars. MC Larsis a rap artist from Berkley, California, he’s been in the rap game since high school in the late 1990s. He’s released all his music independently on his own label Horris records. His latest release is an EP with songs based on the writings and life of Edgar Allen Poe. His plan is to continue on with the educational hip hop releases and continue to spread his words around the world.

One of the bands I have tracked along with this podcast through the years is The Birthday Massacre. Lead singer Chibi is one of the nicest people I have interviewed. The show from the interview is the third time I have seen them perform, I catch them every time they play. The place was so crowded this night I had a tough time taking photos or video through the throngs of fans that were reaching out to the band while dancing and singing along. The new album from TBM is Hide and Seek on Metropolis Records, the songs are the usual blistering goth rock with some electronics but there's also a polish over the songs that points to their ongoing evolution. On the show I talk with Chibi about the tour, their latest record, a book she's written and how she has been recovering since having vocal surgery.

Adam Ant made a successful return to the US a couple months ago, playing sold out shows to Antmusic fans who had longed to see his pirate presence on the stage again. Along with the tour we were treated with Brothers of Brazil as the opening act. Brothers of Brazilare exactly what their name implies two brothers from Brazil that mix punk, samba and pop music. I got to speak with BOB before their Pontiac show at the Crofoot. Anticipating language issues, I found the opposite, two well-spoken, friendly guys that love what they do. Their new album is "On My Way" on Side One Dummy and features lots of great songs that you can bounce along to in the car.

This week's Most People Are Djs profile is with experimental pop artist Julia Holter. Julia Holter played a special, intimate show at Vernors Room in Pontiac on Sept. 24, 2012. I am always looking for different types of shows and Julia Holter's show was especially appealing because once looking into the artist I discovered a truly interesting and captivating musician. Her latest album is "Ekstasis" has been met with critical appraisal, comparing her music to a mixture of Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush and something else that completely her own and can only be described by experiencing it. This show was also special for Julia because she lived in Ann Arbor for a while attending the University of Michigan, so several of her old friends came down to see her. This interview was done before her show with a mic that unfortunately had a bad connection.

I cut my hand this week so I'm a little hampered when it comes to typing and editing video, but that doesn't mean I don't have something good for you. This week's video features two if today's hottest electronic artists, Kewella and Pretty Lights. Krewella is a trio from Chicago that mix female vocals with hard dupstep. Pretty Lights who has been putting on brilliant light shows with hiship hop influenced electronic music for around 7 years. Both shows were incredible displays of bright lights and enthusiastic crowds that ate up the sounds. The video is one of my attempts to pull together all the multi-media interests I've been using, there's me intoducing the clip from my home studio, video I took at each show and photos of the artists and crowd I took at each show. If you want to see more photo's I've taken at shows head on over to my flickrpage.

I have a MPAD video episode for you with one of my favorite local artists, Matt Schwartz. Matt Schwartz is an indie hip hop artist that started out in heavy metal bands but now he's steeped in hip hop and drunken soul. He’s got a slew of releases out that you can download from his bandcamp website for free including his latest “Home Movies”. Matt separates himself from other hip hop artists with a distinct voice that measures his celebrating rhymes equally with darker relationship issues. His songs are usually short clips that hit the subjects head on. Matt Schwartz also gives a hell of a live performance as you can see in the video where he is constantly moving around the stage and using his signature giggle. Another side of Matt Schwartz is “SLLUB CLUB,” an insider joke that has evolved into an ongoing t-shirt, design and who knows what else collective. Give Matt a chance and let his music swarm its way into your life. Soon you will find yourself relating to this stranger like that misfit cousin that spills his troubles to you at places you probably shouldn’t be at but can’t resist the seedy allure. You can find out more about Matt Schwartz and other like-minded hip hop artists at Sparkhop.

Two artists I've recently featured on my podcast have videos out that display their ability to be creative in making big art on a small budget. Both videos have a strong message that are conveyed in near militant style that hits right on target,

The first video is by hip hop artist, Myke Murder, I interviewed him a while back and since then have kept up with him. Myke's an intense guy on a mission to get us to always use our brain and not just mindlessly follow along with the masses. His video for "It's Propaganda" is an amazing visual experience that uses news footage and dangerous imagery set to his enlightening beats and rhymes. He's already got over 16,000 downloads and I just expect that number to keep multiplying.

The 2nd video is by Tunde Olaniran, an artist I intererviewed shortly before he made this brilliant video that captures Tunde's flair for fashion and dance. Direceted by Oren Goldenberg, "Brown Boy" features stark black and white visuals coupled with Tunde's fierce vocals and imaginative choreography.
