I had this real cheesy photo of me with some costumed fan girls from Motor City comic Con, but I decided to save myself the embarrassment and use the picture of me with James Robinson. James Robinson is one of my favorite comic writers because of his wonderful run on Starman. With Starman he took a little known golden age hero and brought into modern times with a new conflicted hero and adventures that captured the reader’s emotions. I had such a good time reviewing Thor with my friend Ted I thought I would bring him back on to talk about some TV finales on shows we both watch. I hate to disappoint people but our take on the Smallville finale is pretty negative, I've read a lot of reviews by people that liked it but I don't think we are alone on thinking it was not awesome, but awful. We also review two of our favorite teen dramas: 90210 and Gossip Girl, btw, Ted is solely to blame for my partaking in Gossip Girl. That's not to say that there's only myself to blame to keep coming back week after week. music - The One Am Radio - An Old Photo of a New Love My paid affiliates for this episode are: Click here to Download the Show!

I think I might have confused some listeners last week when I said I was going to do interview Swimming With Dolphins. Not only does that sound complicated (if not impossible!) I don’t think my video recording equipment would hold up very well. I should have said I’m interviewing the band “Swimming With Dolphins” a synth dance band fronted by Austin Tofte – the cool guy with the hat in the video. Don’t confuse him with the nerdy guy with the hat because that’s me. The back story to SWD is the band was originally formed by Austin and Adam Young who left the band to form Owl City. Perhaps you’ve heard of them? They had a little hit single last year with “Fireflies”. SWD's new record “Water Colours” was just released May 17, so you could view this video as a primer before getting the record. I can tell you that if the record compares to their live show, which is catchy and danceable with some real substance backing up the sound, I wouldn’t hesitate picking it up. I interviewed SWD on May 11 at Eagle Theater in Pontiac. My paid affiliate for this episode is 4inkjets.com where you can get all your printer supplies for much less than anywhere else, and when you use my coupon code MOST you can save 10% plus free shipping off your purchase of $50 or more. Excuse me if my attention doesn’t seem 100% on this post, but it’s game 7 for the Red Wings and it’s a real nail biter. Admittedly, I should confess I’m one of the worst of the fair weather Red Wings fans. I think I became their “biggest fan” this season just a couple games ago. This audio episode of Most People Are DJs is a couple of weeks in the making as it includes a review of Thor I recorded with my friend Ted after seeing an early showing of the movie. I also talk about Andy Dick, and give my reasons for not liking him. Music The Hood Internet – ABX The Pains of Being Hammer mentions Swimming With Dolphins

While I read comics year round, there is something about the month of May that really brings out the comic freak in me. First up there is Free Comic Day tomorrow, May 5th. This is the day free comics are offered to try and hook in new comic readers. For your local comic shop it’s one of the busiest days of the year and there’s usually something special going on at the shop. Whether they are bringing in local comic artists or having costumed characters strolling around the store, this is a day you want to make a trip down to the comic shop and see what’s going on. Here’s a few free comics I’m interested in picking up tomorrow: Green Lantern: Flashpoint DC Comics Elric: Balance Lost Boom Studios Locke & Key IDW The other event that has me stoked for comics in May is Motor City Comic Con coming up next week, May 13-15. If you’re a listener to my podcast you know I go to MCCC just about every year and feature a show with interviews from comic artists and media stars that I get a chance to talk to. I’m really looking forward to this year’s show with artist, writer Howard Chaykin and Starman writer James Robinson.

To celebrate Cinco De Mayo, I give you this video with Valencia that goes back a couple weeks ago to a sold out show that also featured Rocket to the Moon, Runner, Runner and AnArbor. The kids were at this show in droves and it was a great show with tons of energy. Like several other "older" people at the show I was there with my daughter, Megan, who had a tremendous time and I got some "cool" credibility her and that's a tough thing for a father of a high school girl to come by. We got to the show a couple hours early and hung out with the bands, all of them were more than willing to talk with and share stories of the tour with us. It's interesting to compare each of these bands, especially Valencia, live vs. studio. While they're a bit more restrained in the studio, they pack a fierce punch live, inducing the crowd to fevered thrashing and even stage diving. Enjoy the video, as it features, Brendon and Shane talking about their new album "Dancing with a Ghost" and how the tour is going. I am introducing a new paid affiliate for Most People Are DJs:

At 4inkjets.com you can save 10%and get free shipping on your purchase of $50 or more on printer ink by using the coupon code MOST. I use my fair share of printer ink to do my Most People Are DJs show, I’m printing show outlines, emails and loads of other stuff. Just a couple weeks ago my printer broke down, and I needed a replacement right away. What I discovered was printers aren’t very expensive, but the printer ink the printers use is ridiculously expensive. In fact, I think the printer manufacturers are subsidizing part of their printer cost by marking their printer ink cartridges up so much. Just a few refills and you may have already paid for your printer. I do whatever I can to save money and I’ve found buying my printer ink online at places like 4inkjets.com is a much cheaper way to go. 4inkjets.com is a leading retailer for discount inkjet cartridges, printer ink, and toners both new and refills. Since 1999, they have provided businesses and printer owners like me and you with discount printer supplies of the highest quality. With my 4inkjets promo code “MOST” you will save on inkjet cartridges, printer ink and refills, toners, and other printer supplies and accessories for most inkjet or laser printers manufactured.
