This weekend in Detroit is Motor City Comic Con and I've been getting back into the world of comics, largely through great indie efforts like American Born Chinese. Part of the purpose of Most People Are DJs, besides playing great indie music, is to showcase people that are using their talent to produce (mostly)independent works of art, whether it's music. films, novels or comics that I think deserve more exposure. On this episode, I have an interview with Fred Chao, the writer and artist for "Johnny Hiro - Half Asian All Hero", a great comic that combines "slice of life" commentary with Japanese history and non-stop action. This episode features two interviews from a couple of bands I've played recently and I think really deserve your attention. First up, from Brooklyn, NY, Bell Hollow, 4 guys and a girl that combine to make some beautifully textured rock music that calls back on some of the great 80's bands like the Chameleons and the Sound. Second, I interview PlayRadioPlay, from Texas, who is really just one guy that makes awesome synth-pop with an "emo-like" edge to it. I start things off with a new track by NIN that is available for free and is an awesome listen.

I've been talking about doing 2 different episodes lately, a video and a "music in a foreign langauge" episode. I'm still working on that music in a foreign langauge episoide, but I did do a video episode for this week's MPAD. The video is 2 different clips, the first one is an interview of DJ Ice Cold Chrissy, with his music playing underneath it with video from his set and photos. It's still in what I like to call "guerilla" editing style. The second video is from Electric President and it's neat little video that looks like it took a while to assemble. The show's about 9 minutes show so you shouldn't get too bored.
